Longtime fans respond: "Oh, huh. So how's the single sound?"

Obviously, this is extremely Not Safe For Work: http://visit-x.net/rammstein/

Yeah, its not what you would call particularly surprising. I'm torn, though, on how I feel about it. Specifically, I can't decide if they're deliberately writing shitty lyrics on this one, or if they've really jumped the shark. My instinct is to say the former, since they're usually lyrically compelling and fascinating, but a nagging part of my mind keeps saying that maybe they've gone the way of every other goddam German industrial, darkwave, and metal band, and written a song of godawful gratuitous english lyrics.

If I ignore the lyrics the song is pretty catchy, but it really feels like... well, like they just aren't trying. And I've always enjoyed this band most for the stories they tell in their songs, so this could be a big disappointment.

I'm tempted to tell them that their English license has been revoked.

Ha Ha I return!

Well lyrically I see where you are cumming (tee hee hee) from. But, then if you consider all their other songs that tells dark stories of lust, depression and cannibalism, maybe they just wanted to do one song that's different.

I mean, they are describing the Red Light District of Germany. The overal feeling of getting your kicks off their, so they didn't have to be cryptic or dark about their song about it.

I must say, I always wondered what a porno music video would look like. Should have known it would be Rammstein to go all the way with this one. Should have known...

Is that really what it's about?

I dunno, I want to look up what it actually says...

The effect is kind of lost for me, honestly, because of how dreadful the video lagging is.

But otherwise, does this actually do anything for music? Does it do anything interesting for how music videos are used? Or is it just typical Rammstein, and not really all that interesting in the long run?

I mean, just to put it in perspective, I just found this the other day:

Now, the difference between the Add N to (X) song and the Rammstein song is that "Metal Fingers in my Body" is actually a really good song.

The musical quality for "Pussy" is pretty low. I was rather disappointed by the song.

Seems like Rammstein has to resort solely to shock value in the absence of good music.

Yeah, it's just... not as good.

And yeah, I was hoping you would see this thread just so you could listen to that Add M To (X) song. I knew, somehow, that you would enjoy it. Image

But, broader implications for musical scene, anyone? I mean, I've got nothing at the moment...

...Not really, though. We should totally make it. TMB would possibly own the forum in that case.

Of course, she pretty much does already...
